Top target confirms Penn State official visit

Penn State will get one of its top overall targets on campus for an official visit this weekend, BWI confirmed on Tuesday. Supporting previous reporting from BWI’s Ryan Snyder, Brookline (Mass.) Dexter School two-way lineman Liam Andrews confirmed his trip for the first weekend of June. 

The 6-foot-4.5, 255-pound Andrews was last on campus for the Blue-White Game in April. He checked in at No. 1 on the BWI Big Board for May. The Nittany Lions were one of the schools on Andrews’ shortened list of eight last week. Andrews also included Florida, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wisconsin on his list.

“Penn State has been recruiting me very hard since my recruitment started to heat up,” Andrews told On3 last week. “I have a great relationship with both OL/DL staff and I feel like they are a team that could compete for a national championship soon.”

Originally recruited as an offensive lineman, the Nittany Lions have been flexible about his future position since he expressed a desire to play defense at the next level. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein and defensive line coach Deion Barnes have both been recruiting Andrews for Penn State. The Nittany Lions currently hold the to spot on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Andrews also visited for Penn State’s win over Michigan State in November, for a camp last summer and for a Junior Day in March of 2022. His four visits to State College are more documented trips than any other school. The rest of Andrews’ visit schedule remains ambiguous at this time, but a summer decision is expected.

A four-star prospect by the On3 Industry rankings, Andrews checks in as the No. 77 overall prospect nationally and the nation’s top interior offensive line prospect.
