Top schools roundup: Where Notre Dame stands in the recruitments of five 2025 offerees

Notre Dame should still be able to reach a quartet of 2025 recruits after they included the Fighting Irish in their top schools since Aug. 8.
On the first of the month, college football programs could permissibly high school junior football recruits for the first time. And cornerback Blake Woodby, EDGE Bryce Davis, linebacker Keylan Moses and running back Tory Blaylock are still accepting contact from Notre Dame.
Here’s where the Irish stand for each recruit after they included ND in their top schools’ lists. Also, an update on another offeree that did not include Notre Dame in his top schools.
Notre Dame named to four-star CB Blake Woodby’s top 12
On Aug. 8, Baltimore St. Frances’ Woodby narrowed his list of 32 Power Five scholarship offers to a top 12. Notre Dame is in the same company as Alabama, Arizona State, Boston College, Clemson, Maryland, Miami (Fla.) Rutgers, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford and Tennessee.
Woodby, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 116 overall player and No. 11 cornerback, has reported unofficial recruiting visits to about half of those schools: Alabama, Boston College, Clemson, Maryland and Ohio State. Also the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 3 prospect in Maryland, Woodby, has visited LSU and Penn State. But neither team made the cut.
Currently, the Irish remain better positioned for his teammate, four-star cornerback Kevyn Humes. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Humes included Notre Dame in his top eight in June. He also made a trip to South Bend on March 24.
Notre Dame cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens offered the 5-10, 180-pound Woodby and Humes during its Pot of Gold Day recruiting event on March 17. During the St. Patrick’s Day-themed event, the Irish offered new scholarships to 63 other recruits and seven cornerbacks.
Four-star EDGE Bryce Davis tabs Notre Dame in top 12
Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley’s Davis decided to insert the Irish in his top 12 on Aug. 9. The 6-2 ½, 245-pound Davis also put Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Southern California and Tennessee.
Davis left 11 Power Five programs out of his top 12, including NC State, which he visited on March 29. He’s also unofficially visited Duke (4), North Carolina (2), South Carolina (2), Clemson (2), Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.
Davis is the No. 65 overall player, No. 9 EDGE and No. 3 prospect in North Carolina, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington offered Davis on Pot of Gold Day.
“The academics are great,” said Davis, describing his Notre Dame interest. “When you think about college football, Notre Dame has been around for the longest. They’ve had a great program for a minute and they’re building it up now.
“Then, it’s the connection with the coaches — talking to Coach Washington and the recruiter when I first got the offer. I enjoy talking to the staff and want to continue building that relationship.”
Notre Dame makes four-star LB Keylan Moses’ top eight
Moses from Baton Rouge (La.) University cut his list of 16 Power Five scholarship offers to a top eight last Friday. The 6-1 ½, 215-pound Moses is down to Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas.
Moses was a high school teammate with current Notre Dame freshman linebacker Jaiden Ausberry for two seasons. He’s also the brother of former Alabama star Dylan Moses, who finished his high school career at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy.
LSU is in pole position for Moses with a 95.1% chance to land his commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). There are two On3 Recruiting Insider predictions for the Tigers to pick up his pledge. Moses has reported seven unofficial college recruiting visits to LSU.
Moses has also been to Florida (3), Oregon (2), Florida State (2), Alabama and Texas. He’s visited Houston, Mississippi State and Texas A&M as well, although those schools did not make his top eight.
The On3 Industry Ranking considers Moses the No. 157 overall player, No. 15 linebacker and No. 3 prospect in Louisiana. He told Blue & Gold he is eyeing a Notre Dame game day visit this season. The Irish offered him on Pot of Gold Day.
Four-star RB Tory Blaylock places Notre Dame in his top 13
Houston Atascocita High’s Blaylock broke down his list of 28 Power Five offers to a top 13 last Saturday. The 5-11, 175-pound Blaylock focuses on Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
Of the teams in his top 13, Blaylock has visited Texas A&M (5), Texas (3), Oklahoma (3), Ohio State (2), Tennessee and Alabama. He also reported a visit to TCU, which did not make his top 13.
Blaylock’s brother Taylen plays for Sam Houston State; his other brother Travian signed with Wisconsin in 2018. Tory Blaylock is the No. 154 overall player, No. 13 running back and No. 28 prospect in Texas.
Notre Dame running backs coach Deland McCullough offered the youngest Blaylock on Jan. 17.
Four-star EDGE Zahir Mathis leaves Notre Dame out of top 12
Philadelphia Imhotep Institute’s Zahir Mathis, the No. 60 overall player and No. 8 EDGE in the On3 Industry Ranking, left Notre Dame out of his Aug. 7 top 12. The 6-5, 230-pound Mathis prefers Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Southern California, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Mathis was a Pot of Gold Day offeree.
