Top-50 RB Javian Osborne talks his recent Miami offer
This spring has been a very busy one for Forney (Texas) running back Javian Osborne, who has blossomed into one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2026 class, with new schools entering the mix nearly every day. The latest program to offer the coveted ball carrier was the Miami Hurricanes after running backs coach Matt Merritt made his way to the Lone Star State to check in on Osborne.
“I was really excited and thankful for another offer,” Osborne told CaneSport. “It looks like Miami is looking for playmakers. One of those playmakers that are dominant and can really take on a leadership role, and I feel like that’s what they’re missing.”
When asked about the Hurricanes and what attracted him to the program, the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder spoke about Miami’s rich history of producing great running backs.
“Just knowing what running backs Miami had in the past is great,” Osborne explained. “You had guys like Edgerrin James, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, and a bunch of legendary running backs. I know Miami is a school that has put out some great running backs for sure.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Osborne is the No. 45-ranked prospect in the 2026 class and the No. 4-ranked prospect is running back in his cycle. He holds offers from the likes of Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, USC, Florida State, Oregon, Tennessee and Miami.
“The process has been really good so far,” Osborne said. “Just seeing how this whole process works and watching myself grow has been great. Also seeing how all the coaches are and what they have to offer.”
When looking at a program, tradition, and development at the running back positions are two factors Osborne will highly consider.
“I really look at a programs tradition and whether the coaches are really for me or not,” Osborne said. “Also, how they utilize their running backs.”
As far as Miami, the Texas native is hoping to visit campus in the coming months and will be paying close attention to the Hurricanes this coming season.
“What I really want to see is if they can take that next step,” Osborne said. “Really get to that next level, winning games and getting back to that old Miami how they used to be.”

Osborne has no shortage of programs chasing him early on, with Miami becoming the latest. Moving forward, getting Osborne on campus should be the next step for the Canes and the talented tailback as they build their relationship.
