Top 30 Purdue football players: No. 13 NT Mo Omonode

Purdue will begin preparations for the 2024 campaign soon in training camp, gearing toward the season-opener on August 31 at home vs Indiana State. Let’s count down the top 30 Boilermakers as we march to the start of Ryan Walters‘ second season in West Lafayette.

No. 13 Mo Omonode, NT, Junior

Relentless. That’s the best way to describe NT Mo Omonode, a whirling dervish who plays like his hair is on fire.

The just-barely 6-foot tall product of nearby West Lafayette High School is the best player on the interior of the defensive line. Why? Strength, quickness, power, leverage and 290 pounds of constantly revving motor.

Omonode was too good to keep off the field as a true freshman in 2022, playing in 11 games and making seven stops. Last season, Omonode made 14 tackles in 12 games. He’s primed to take his game to another level this season working in tandem with NT Cole Brevard.

Credit Omonode’s footwork to a youth spent playing soccer. He also starred as a wrestler despite taking up the sport late in his prep career.

On the gridiron, the relative late-comer continues to evolve. And he’ll need to excel if the d-line wants to reach its potential.
