Top-25 recruit Xavion Staton, 7-foot C, sets 5 official visits

Xavion Staton, an elite center prospect in the 2025 class, has scheduled the following official visits:

Michigan: 9/21

Stanford: 9/28

USC: 10/5

UNLV: 10/26

BYU: 11/2

Staton recently narrowed his list of schools down to six: Arizona, BYU, Michigan, Stanford, UNLV, and USC.

The 7-foot four-star big man out of Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas, NV is ranked as the No. 25 overall prospect in the country, according to On3’s Top-150 Player Rankings. He’s also the No. 2 overall center and the No. 1 player in Nevada. Staton was the 2023-24 Gatorade Player of the Year in Nevada.

Staton talks final 6 schools

In a recent interview with On3, Xavion Staton discussed each of his final six schools.

UNLV: “They are the hometown school and have shown the most support, always having at least 1 coach at games, sometimes the whole staff present. Their staff is unmatched in support. They also have a great program, great support system and good academics which could play a part too.”

BYU: “They hadn’t been on my radar prior to them offering, but the program speaks for itself. They entered my recruitment pretty late, but seem to really believe in me. The coaching staff seems great and it’s close to home. I’m keeping them in my top to get to know them more and explore that as an option.”

Michigan: “They have shown some of the top support whether that’s coming to games 3-4 deep or constant check ups and calls. They have great facilities, amazing staff as well as great academics.”

Stanford: “Amazing academically and a good program going with good facilities as well as a great staff who has always showed some support no matter what. Beautiful campus in terms of what I’ve researched. It is also a close proximity to home for myself and my family.”

Arizona: “Great basketball school and have history of developing bigs. I’ve developed a good relationship with the coaching staff which has shown great support as well. They have a good program going and a location I am “relative to” as it’s close to home and hot which is same as Vegas.”

USC: “Also being close to home, USC also is a good big development school and is used to developing NBA level players. It also has good academics and good facilities. I’ve developed a good relationship with the coaching staff and they have even come out to Vegas not for me but for Summer League and such which shows the proximity to home.”

Scouting Report

“The piece of Xavion Staton’s game that pops is the defensive ability. He is an excellent shot blocker with natural feel. He has very long arms with high-set shoulders and a big standing reach and quick-twitch pop. There is an intimidation factor he brings throughout the course of a game. Offensively, Staton needs reps to continue working on his feel for the game. He is a dunker spot, front of the rim-type big right now. Listed as a true 7-footer, he has natural touch beyond the arc, but he needs the reps to work on balance, feet, and load. There is some unique defensive ability, possibly the best rim protector in the class. That will keep him high in the rankings and bring him a lot of notoriety. He plays with a good motor and generally affects play when he is in the game.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
