Top 2025 DB Jae’on Young Recaps Oregon Visit
Jae’on Young, one of the top sophomores on the West Coast, returned to Eugene to check out the Ducks’ Spring Game.
Young, a native of Chatsworth (Calif.), wreaks havoc for Sierra Canyon High. He had six interceptions last season.
This was Young’s second visit to Eugene. He attended last year”s game against Washington.
Young told ScoopDuck that Oregon is recruiting him at defensive back. And as expected, Demetrice Martin is leading the way.
“The conversations I had with coach Meat definitely stood out to me,” he said. “The love I get there is unmatched, (as is) how the coaches interact with the players and parents.
“My favorite part was definitely the Spring Game. I also got to tour some parts of the facility I haven’t seen before.”
Young said Oregon’s interest is genuine.
“They’ve been heavily recruiting me,” he said. “Coach Meat and the coaching staff always talk about how much coach (Dan) Lanning speaks about me.
“They believe that I can be a big piece to the puzzle to get a national championship one day.”
Young enjoyed the Autzen environment. He said he can see himself in an Oregon jersey.
“The Spring Game was my favorite part about the trip,” he said. “The energy before felt like game day and brought a lot of excitement.
“I can definitely see myself playing there and fitting into the scheme of the defense.”
Young plans to return to Eugene. But for now, he does not have any visits planned.
While On3 sees this as a battle between Washington and Oregon, Boston College recently offered. He said a trip to Massachusetts is expected.
