Top-15 2025 WR looking to return to Miami for campus visit: “I love the way they play, and I love their tradition”

Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County 2025 receiver Caleb Cunningham, the No. 12 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, has already taken visits to programs like Georgia and LSU this fall, but he hasn’t forgotten about Miami.

Miami’s coaching staff, led by receivers coach Kevin Beard, have talked to Cunningham regularly about getting the 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver back to campus for either a game visit this fall or another trip this spring. And while Cunningham isn’t certain when he’ll be back in Miami, he knows he’ll make another trip to South Florida.

“We’ve been talking about (getting down for a game day visit), but if we don’t, I’ll probably go after the season when they have other events and stuff,” Cunningham said. “But I’m trying to get up there. I sure want to get up there. It’s nice up there.”

Miami impressed Cunningham when he visited Coral Gables earlier this spring, and he took a game day visit to Hard Rock Stadium in late 2022. Cunningham likes Beard and head coach Mario Cristobal and enjoys the city.

“It’s great to be there,” Cunningham said. “Like, it’s Miami! I love the way they play, and I love their tradition in the program.”

Miami has been after Cunningham along with more than half a dozen other programs including Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Florida State, USC, Auburn and others. Ole Miss and Mississippi State have pushed hard to keep Cunningham in Mississippi (he’s currently the No. 1 player in the state in all four major recruiting databases), but he doesn’t feel limited by a school’s distance from his home. Cunningham made clear he’s open to whichever program he feels provides the best opportunity.

He still hopes to visit Oklahoma, Clemson, Florida State, South Carolina and a bevy of other programs. He plans to visit Mississippi State this weekend for the Bulldogs’ home game against Alabama.

CaneSport’s Take

Miami has held Cunningham’s interest for awhile now, and while the Hurricanes have never been a true frontrunner or the top dog for the top-15 prospect, the Canes have always been in the picture, and Cunningham isn’t forgetting about them. We wouldn’t quite call Miami a team to watch just yet, but the Canes have certainly made themselves a team to monitor, and they can help their chances by staying hot after a 4-0 start to the new season. Keep an eye on the Canes.
