Top-100 recruit Kameryn Fountain, a USC commit visits Auburn: ‘I loved it … it felt real special’

On3 Industry Ranking top-100 overall recruit Kameryn Fountain, a USC commitment, visited Auburn football on Saturday. It was Fountain’s first visit to Auburn, but won’t be his last.

Fountain, who attends Washington in Atlanta, Ga., was inside Jordan-Hare Stadium and watched as the Tigers beat Samford, 45-13.

“This was my first time (at Auburn), but definitely won’t be my last,” he told Auburn Live. “The atmosphere was great. It was great. I loved it.”

Fountain said the unofficial visit was better than he expected. It was an eye-opening visit for him.

“I was very surprised,” he said. “It was way better than I expected. It was great. It was a great experience. It felt real special here.”

Fountain building bond with Auburn DL coach Jeremy Garrett

In addition to watching the game, Fountain had time to speak with Auburn defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett. The two have developed a bond since Garrett began recruiting him.

“I talked to him and took some pictures with him,” Fountain said. “He is a great man … a great man. Even when I committed (to USC), he still kept talking to me.”

Auburn, he said, is recruiting him to play defensive end/outside linebacker. He kept a close eye on position Saturday night when the Tigers faced the Bulldogs.

“I saw how Coach Garrett ran the d-line and it looked very good,” he said. “He tells me that I could be a man to help out and be a real factor for them on defense. That most definitely sounds good to me.”

Is Auburn a real factor to flip him from the Trojans? He’s been committed since June, but Fountain didn’t hesitate to respond.

“Always,” he said. “It’s the bond that I have with Coach Garrett. When he first got here, he offered me. That kind of stood out to me.”

Fountain, who is listed at 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, plans to return to Auburn at least once more. An official visit is in the works, he said, and maybe another unofficial visit or two.

“I’ll definitely be back for an OV,” he said. “I am waiting to set a date.”

The On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, ranks Fountain the No. 95 overall recruit in the country. It also ranks him the No. 6 edge in the class and No. 13 overall recruit in Georgia.
