Top 100 prospect Zion Grady has ‘next level’ visit to Ohio State, talks next steps in recruitment

While Ohio State hosted many visitors in the months of March and April during spring practice, and are set to hose many top prospects for official visits in June, the Buckeyes were able to put together an epic May recruiting weekend, featuring four premiere talents, without really anyone knowing.

One of the four who made the trip to Columbus was Troy (AL) Enterprise defensive end Zion Grady, a 6-foot-4, 225-pounder that decommitted from Alabama earlier this year. Grady was offered by Ohio State in February and made his first visit to campus over the weekend. It did not disappoint.

“That visit went next level,” Grady told Lettermen Row. “I got to see all of the facilities as well as see all of Columbus.”

Grady also got to spend time with the coaching staff, which served as the highlight of his time on campus.

“I met with Coach Day and his message to me was to dream big and let Ohio State help me with those dreams,” he shared. “I also met with Coach Johnson and his message to me was that he sees the potential in me to be a star and that they have the resources at Ohio State to get me to where I need to be.”

Coming into the trip, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, and Tennessee were viewed as the main competitors for the talented EDGE prospect, but the Buckeyes have firmly put themselves in this race.

“Ohio State has definitely shaken some things up in my recruitment,” Grady stated. “I have scheduled an official visit (to Ohio State) from June 21-23.”

That visit will be big in determining if Ohio State can land a commitment from a second player from the Yellowhammer State in this class. Grady will also take officials to the other four schools mentioned (Miami on May 31, FSU on June 7, Auburn on June 10, and Tennessee on June 14), and will then go into decision mode.

“I’m looking at July 4th for my commitment date,” he said. “I think the most important factors for me will be development, relationships with the coaches, and being able to play early.”

Grady is a 4-star, the No. 65 overall player, the No. 9 EDGE, and the No. 5 prospect in Alabama for 2025 per the On3 Industry Rankings.
