Tip times set for SEC/ACC Challenge; Kentucky vs. Clemson will be a late one

Kentucky will play Clemson at Clemson for the first time in 91 years in December. It’ll be a late one.

Tip times were released today for the SEC/ACC Challenge. The Cats vs. the Tigers will tip off at 9:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Littlejohn Coliseum. It will air on ESPN, the final game of the night. On the women’s side, Kentucky plays North Carolina in Chapel Hill at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 on ESPN2.

Kentucky leads the overall series vs. Clemson 12-4, most recently beating the Tigers 76-61 in the Premier Classic on Nov. 29, 1997. The Tigers upset the Cats the year before in the BCA Classic in Indianapolis on Nov. 15, 1996, a 79-71 overtime thriller. Clemson also beat Kentucky in overtime in the 1979 NIT. The 13 other meetings took place in the 1920s and 30s.

Clemson is coming off an Elite Eight run last season, upsetting No. 3 seed Baylor and No. 2 seed Arizona before falling to No. 4 seed Alabama in the West Regional. The Tigers finished the season 24-12 and fifth place in the ACC. They return six scholarship players from last year’s squad, including All-West Regional Team performers Chase Hunter and Ian Schieffelin. Brad Bonwell is entering his 15th season at Clemson as the program’s all-time winningest coach with a record of 265-289.
