Tickets to Patriots-Colts in Germany sell out nearly instantly

It’s time to admit it, Germany may love the NFL just as much as we do here in the United States of America.
The hottest ticket in the country is once again the NFL’s foray across the Atlantic Ocean. Earlier this year, tickets to the Miami Dolphins versus Kansas City Chiefs game in Frankfurt sold out quick as a whistle, and apparently they’re selling even quicker for the game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts that’ll be held the following week.
“Tickets to the Chiefs-Dolphins game in Frankfurt, Germany in Week Nine of the 2023 season sold out quickly earlier this year and the interest was just as high for tickets to the Patriots-Colts game being held at Deutsche Bank Park the next week,” wrote Josh Alper of NBC’s Pro Football Talk. “Those tickets went on sale earlier this week and sold out almost instantly.
“An NFL spokesperson told Michael Silverman of the Boston Globe that 700,000 fans signed up for the opportunity to purchase tickets to the two games with another three million in a digital queue behind them.”
While that’s awesome news for NFL fans in Germany, as their passion is on full display, it’s disappointing for fans of the Patriots or Colts who want to make the trip to a new country to see their team play. Thankfully for them, Robert Kraft and New England’s ownership has at least a small group of fans covered.
According to Kraft Group CMO Jen Ferron via Alper, there’s a group of tickets that were allotted for their season ticket holders before the general sale started for the game.
“Kraft Group CMO Jen Ferron said that the team had been allotted a small portion — between 1,000 and 10,000 — for their season-ticket holders before any general sale took place,” wrote Alper.
Additionally, Ferron explained that even those tickets sold “very quickly,” proving that Germany is a bustling new market for the league.
“We had access to a portion of tickets for our season ticket member base that went on sale a couple of weeks ago,” Ferron said, via Alper. “Those sold through very quickly but the vast majority of the inventory belongs to the venue and the National Football League.”
The showdown between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts was going to be a fun one regardless, but the extra layer of it being played in-front of a raucous German crowd will go a long way into making it one of the more memorable games of 2023. We can’t wait to see it, that’s for sure.
