Three-star wide receiver Rahji Dennis commits to Ole Miss over Miami

Three-star wide receiver Rahji Dennis commits to Ole Miss over Miami

Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin got a nice three-day weekend surprise on Monday. Edna Karr (La.) wide receiver Rahji Dennis announced his commitment to the Rebels on Twitter. He chose Ole Miss over notable offers from Mississippi State, Miami, Texas A&M, Duke and Memphis.

The 6-foot, 160 pound prospect from one of the most prestigious programs in Louisiana high school football is a gamechanger recruit with his speed. When he’s not on the football field he is setting the track on fire. Dennis was clocked at 10.24 (2022) and 21.09 in the 100-meter and 200-meter (2023), respectively.

It was thought a few weeks ago Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes had surged ahead for the Pelican State prospect, but Pete Golding and Derrick Nix changed the tune rather quickly. Kevin Smith also played a role in this recruitment, too.

On3 ranks Dennis as the 154th overall wide receiver in the 2024 class.

Sam Spiegelman recently had a chance to see him up close during Edna Karr’s spring game. Needless to say the dynamic prospect did not disappoint.

“2024 WR Rahji Dennis headlines the senior crop,” he wrote. “The 6-foot, 170-pounder clocked a 10.2-second 100M last spring and a 21.09-second 200-meter earlier this month. Dennis’ speed on the track has been mirrored by development at his position.

“This spring, Dennis has been used on gadget plays and designed end-arounds, and has also been outstanding stretching the field vertically and making tough combat catches in the middle of the field.”

Rahji Dennis brings an element to the Rebels’ class which is awfully familiar in a Lane Kiffin offense.

The Ole Miss head coach loves his shifty slot receivers. He had his way with mismatches at Alabama with Kenyan Drake and during his first year in Oxford with Elijah Moore. Now, Dennis is next up. Sure it’s high praise but the track star brings loads of explosiveness and big-play ability.

Ole Miss’ 2024 class is currently ranked 19th in the country.

Dennis joins Basha (Ariz.) four-star quarterback Demond Williams Jr., Bay Springs (Miss.) four-star defensive lineman Kamron Beavers, Picayune Memorial (Miss.) three-star running back Chris Davis, Winona Secondary School (Miss.) three-star linebacker Fred Clark, Callaway (Miss.) three-star wide receiver Jeremy Scott, Pascagoula (Miss.) defensive lineman Jeffery Rush three-star Clarksdale (Miss.) Patrick Broomfield and Jones College (Miss.) linebacker Raymond Collins.
