Three-Star EDGE Solomon Williams Recaps Oregon Visit

Every year there are late-bloomers in the recruiting cycle. With the accelerated timeline in recruiting, that used to be in the Fall. Now it’s in May and June.
One of those taking advantage however is Carrollwood Day (Fla.) EDGE Solomon Williams. The 6-foot-2, 245-pounder took official visits to Alabama and UCF. He also took a pair of unofficial visits to Oregon this Spring. Once in April and once in June.
We caught up with Williams to get the latest on his recruitment.
“On my first trip to Oregon I went with my head coach and some teammates,” Williams told ScoopDuck. “My mom was with me on the second trip. She thought it was amazing. It was all so new to her. She just loved the atmosphere.”
Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi are leaning heavily on past experience coaching the EDGE position.
“I like knowing I’m a priority at Oregon. I know coach Lanning and coach Lupoi can use me and develop me at Oregon. It really caught my eye hearing about how much experience they have coaching players at my position.”
Williams said the facilities at Oregon were great but he felt the real highlight was getting to meet and know the staff.
Nick Saban at Alabama also made a big impression on the fast-rising three star.
“Alabama was definitely a great trip. I really enjoyed talking to Nick Saban. He was talking to me about how I can get better and some of the players I remind him of.”
And his UCF official visit:
“UCF was also great. They are player-coaches there. Its a lot of love and I really enjoyed it there.”
Williams said he plans on taking official visits at the end of July.
“Maybe to Texas or Ohio State or Penn State. I’m not sure yet.”
And in the Fall he’ll be back on the road again.
“I will visit Clemson, Oregon and maybe an unofficial visit back to Bama. I’m also going to the Ohio State vs Penn State game in October.” (Oct. 21)
His recent top 7 includes: Clemson, Oregon, Alabama, Texas A&M, UCF, Texas and Ohio State.
Williams said he has no timeline for a decision.
“Maybe early season. It just depends on visits.”
