Three and out: Kansas State at Big 12 Media Days

Kansas State at Big 12 Media Days

It is hard to believe but Big 12 Media Days is just around the corner. That means that it is closer to the start of the football season than it currently feels. In addition to welcoming in new members Houston, UCF, BYU and Cincinnati, the league shared who was representing Kansas State and every other school in Arlington.

The event will take place once again at AT&T Stadium, and K-State will have offensive lineman Cooper Beebe, quarterback Will Howard, linebacker Daniel Green and safety Kobe Savage in attendance, in addition to head coach Chris Klieman.

Although it may be a product of being one of the few players that is older and has plenty of experience on the defensive side of the ball in Manhattan, I see it as another promising sign that Savage is recovering and rehabbing well from his late season injury a year ago.

It is the second appearance for Green.

I’d imagine that, similarly to last year, Kansas State will be a popular stop for much of the media at the event in Arlington. More people likely wanted a piece of Adrian Martinez and Deuce Vaughn last year, but Howard and Beebe will draw a crowd.

Pac-12 update

In a report a couple weeks ago from the national scribes like Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated and Pete Thamel of ESPN, a development that was revealed was that San Diego State had messaged the Mountain West of their plans to leave the conference but asked for an extension.

The extension was to push the date that the exit fee doubled back another month to give them more time and flexibility to make a move. The Aztecs also asked for approval that the fee be paid in installments rather than lump sums.

Unfortunately for them and unsurprisingly, the Mountain West denied both requests. Because of that, and the Pac-12 seemingly not being any closer to a media rights deal, San Diego State has notified the Mountain West that it intends to stay in the conference.

My takeaway is that the Aztecs, or anyone for that matter, is not acting like a lucrative television contract is coming anytime soon for the Pac-12. That is another deadline and key hurdle that the league has failed to meet.

More and more I am believing that K-State and the Big 12 will have new members moving forward.

K-State tight end seeing draft stock soar

Not that it’s a surprise either, but we’re seeing the stock take a bit of a jump for Kansas State tight end Ben Sinnott. Folks are going to the lab and doing a bit of research in the offseason to find some hidden gems, and they’re seeing what we witnessed and knew at the time last season.

Sinnott is the real deal. He flourished in the second half of the year when Howard became the signal-caller for the Wildcats, and his blend of size and athleticism to combine with his toughness and tenacity was a lethal lmix.

NFL Draft folks are starting to label him a top five tight end in college football when it comes to pro potential, and I won’t argue that notion. Heck, I would throw more gasoline on the fire. With a good year, the only one he can’t top in my book is Brock Bowers.
