This is the Gators’ 2025 recruiting class … so far
The Florida Gators enter the final day of June with eight commitments in the 2025 class after gaining four recent pledges. Here’s a quick look at the group, which is No. 40 in the rankings, as of Sunday:
The Florida Gators have 2 running backs committed
*Waltez Clark, RB, Tampa (Fla.) Plant
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-foot-1/2, 190 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 90.11
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 20 RB, No. 41 in Florida, No. 279 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 9/16/23
-PICKED UF OVER: FSU, Miami, Tennessee, others.
-SCOUTING REPORT: Clark is both fast and smooth. Few running backs in this class accelerate through the hole like him. He recently clocked a 100-meters time of 10.77 seconds. Clark has the ability to get skinny in space and has a quick burst out of his cuts, which make him deadly in the open field. Clark’s versatility is another asset and he’s also excellent in the passing game.
-411: Clark seems to be solid to the Gators The biggest thing working for Florida is this: Clark’s relationship with Florida running backs coach Jabbar Juluke. Clark recently said he would not officially visit other schools.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: Florida (June 14)
*Chad Gasper, RB, Fulshear (Texas.) Katy Jordan
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5-foot-11, 200 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 87.53
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 46 RB, No. 90 in Texas, No. 596 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 5/10/24
-PICKED UF OVER: Houston, Kansas, Memphis.
-SCOUTING REPORT: Gasper will lower his shoulder and drive into a defender. He’s a tough, physical runner, the kind who isn’t easy to tackle with your arms. He has the potential to wear down a defense. Additionally, Gasper has 39 receptions for 457 yards in high school — and is fairly strong in the open field.
-411: Gasper seems locked in following his recently commitment.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: Florida (May 31).
2 Tallahassee-area defenders are on the commit list
*Jeramiah McCloud, DL, Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-foot-2.5, 285 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 88.45
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 38 DL, No. 60 in Florida, No. 439 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 5/02/24
-PICKED UF OVER: FSU, LSU, Mississippi State
-SCOUTING REPORT: McCloud has a solid combination of motor and aggressiveness. And he might give Florida some position versatility along the defensive line.
-411: McCloud committed to the Gators after having previously been committed to Mississippi State. His verbal came one day after FSU offered. It’s unclear at this time if McCloud will officially visit any more schools. But he has returned to Gainesville a few times since committing and seems solid to the Gators.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: Florida (May 31).
*Jalen Wiggins, Edge/DL, Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-foot-5, 235 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 93.08
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 7 DL, No. 14 in Florida, No. 93 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 1/15/24
-PICKED UF OVER: FSU, Georgia, LSU, Miami
-SCOUTING REPORT: The Gators have recruited Wiggins to play edge, but given his current size it’s possible he could grow into an end or even inside player. At the Under Armour Camp in Orlando earlier this year, he showed good quickness coming off the ball, nice footwork, active hands and an excellent motor. His reach is a problem for offensive linemen.
-411: Florida State and Stanford continue to heavily pursue Wiggins — and he officially visited both. He tripped with the ‘Noles last weekend. The previous weekend, Wiggins spent three days in Gainesville on an unofficial to help recruit. Wiggins told Gators Online last week he will have a final decision regarding his recruitment soon.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: Stanford (May 31), Florida (June 7), FSU (June 21).
There have been two out-of-state 2025 additions in June
*Micah Jones, TE, Madison Central (Miss.)
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-foot-4, 250 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 88.03
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 29 TE, No. 16 in Mississippi, No. 516 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 6/21/24
-PICKED UF OVER: Arkansas, Mississippi State
-SCOUTING REPORT: Jones has an NFL frame, is a natural pass catcher and can be difficult to tackle in the open field. He has the ability to get you tough yards over the middle, but also turn short throws into long gains. Additionally, he’s a tough, physical in-line blocker at times.
-411: Jones committed to the Gators a couple weeks ago and it came as no surprise to anyone who followed his recruitment. Florida had been trending for awhile.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: Florida (May 31), Arkansas (June 7), Mississippi State (June 14)
*Hayden Craig, P, North Bridgton (Me.) Bridgton Academy
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-foot-2, 190 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 80.00
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 3 P, No. 1 in Maine, No. 1478 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 6/12/24
-PICKED UF OVER: N/A
-SCOUTING REPORT: “Craig is a very good combo kicker/punter who could improve a college team’s roster with his leg talent” — Kohl’s Kicking
-411: Craig camped with the Gators earlier this month and committed the next day.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: TBD
UF picked up 2 commitments last week
*Joshua Moore, WR, Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-foot-4, 205 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 91.39
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 24 WR, No. 27 in Florida, No. 197 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 6/26/24
-PICKED UF OVER: FSU, Miami
-SCOUTING REPORT: Moore has that big frame the Gators have badly wanted the past couple recruiting cycles. He has produced big numbers in high school and it’s easy to see why. He’s tall, has a great catch radius, solid hands and is very good after the catch. Moore has the potential to play early in his Gators career — even though he is just scratching the surface as a player.
-411: We don’t expect schools such as FSU and Miami to stop recruiting Moore. Should the Gators struggle this season, those two programs will look to pounce.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: Florida (May 31), Miami (June 7), FSU (June 14)
*Tae’shaun Gelsey, TE/ATH, Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside
-HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-foot-4, 210 pounds
-ON3 INDUSTRY RATING: 86.90
-ON3 INDUSTRY RANKING: No. 41 TE, No. 88 in Florida, No. 710 nationally
-COMMITMENT DATE: 6/29/24
-PICKED UF OVER: Tulane, Wake Forest
-SCOUTING REPORT: Gelsey had an extremely productive junior season with 48 catches for 859 yards and nine touchdowns while playing receiver. He’s got a great frame and should be able to add a good 20-30 pounds in college. Gelsey uses his body well to shield defenders — most of whom are much smaller — from the ball. And, he has good body control in the air. His highlight reel is full of excellent catches and he has great hands. We haven’t seen enough of his blocking to know how he’ll do in that area.
-411: Gelsey committed Saturday. Tulane, his No. 2 school, had recruited him solely at receiver.
-OFFICIAL VISITS: Florida (May 31), Tulane (June 20)
