The next Iowa Football commitment will be…

Iowa football recruiting finished strong in June and it has kept going in July. The Hawkeyes picked up their second verbal commitment this month on Wednesday with when defensive back Rashad Godfrey announced he was headed to Iowa.
That brings the Hawkeyes to 18 verbal commitments. That brings the total scholarship commitments from uncommitted prospects who made their official visit in late June to six. There are three more prospects who have yet to announce a decision. Two of those prospects are trending towards Iowa.
The most likely of the two trending targets to commit to Iowa is Jaylen Watson. The three star defensive back is from Michigan, but moved to Toledo. He is the nephew of former Iowa running back Fred Russell.
Watson has offers from Iowa, Cincinnati, Minnesota, West Virginia, Louisville, and others. He is planning to make his commitment on July 8th. Currently, his recruitment is trending heavily towards the Hawkeyes. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has his at 97.1% to Iowa. I have made my prediction for Iowa earlier in June.
The other player who might be close to a decision is Chima Chineke. The three star defensive line prospect from Texas has offers from Iowa, Texas Tech, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State, and others.
The 6-foot-4 and 240 pound prospect seems to be favoring Iowa. According to the On3 RPM, Iowa is listed with a 90.6% chance of landing Chineke. I have also put in my prediction for the Hawkeyes.
One other undecided prospect from the official visit weekend is Xavier Lucas. He’s a three star defensive back prospect from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Lucas made official visits to Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin in the month of June and doesn’t appear to be close to a decision.
The On3 RPM has his top three schools as the one’s he officially visited last month. Illinois is at 29.3%, Iowa is 25.7%, and Wisconsin is at 22.0%.
