The next Iowa Football commitment will be…

The month of June was extremely busy on the football recruiting front. Iowa added five verbal commitments, including four from their big official visit weekend. The month of July is off to a good start with the verbal pledge of Joseph Anderson to Iowa.
This is just the beginning. Iowa is not done with their recruiting run coming off the big recruiting weekend in late June. There are expected to be more commitments this month. Who will be the next commitment?
Before we dive into the next commitment, let’s take a look at where the Hawkeyes stand. They have 17 announced verbal commitments in this class, which is expected to reach into the low 20’s.
After adding Anderson this week, Iowa now has three verbal commitments along the defensive line with an expectation that they could add one more. Joining Anderson is Drew Campbell, the younger brother of Jack Campbell, and Devan Kennedy.
So, who could be next?
One of the best guess is safety prospect Rashad Godfrey. He’s a native of Florida who made his official visit in late June. He had made comments to suggest that he might take more official visits this fall, but now it appears that he will be announcing on Wednesday evening. The current On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Godfrey at 98.5% to Iowa. I have also logged an RPM for Godfrey to Iowa last month.
Another player who is also slated to announce his decision shortly is defensive back Jaylen Watson. He is schedule to make his commitment on July 8th. Watson is the nephew of former Hawkeye Fred Russell and made his official visit in late June. The On3 RPM has him as a 97.1% chance of committing to Iowa and I logged a prediction for the Hawkeyes in early June.
Finally, there is one more defensive lineman who visited that is still undecided. That is Chima Chineke, a 6-foot-4 and 240 defensive lineman from Plano, TX. The three star prospect has not given any indication on an announcement date, but Iowa is listed as a 90.6% chance to land him. I have also placed an RPM for him to Iowa.
