The latest Texas intel on one of the most selfless players on the team

The team’s fastest player is back on offense. The latest vision for him is as “the gadget guy” a la Silas Bolden. Or at least what Silas Bolden was in theory.

First, let’s talk about that comparison. Niblett will get carries on sweeps and reverses while also getting looks in the passing game. Today he lined up in the backfield and at receiver. Also, like Bolden, he’s the punt returner.

You’ll have some concerns or questions, probably. “Shouldn’t they have used Silas Bolden more.” Yes! And, maybe they agree with that. What we know of Niblett is he has similar toughness and gamebreaking speed to Bolden. He’s also incredibly selfless if you can’t tell by his bi-annual position change.

Niblett was actually doing good at nickel but you may recall how much we’ve mentioned Graceson Littleton this spring. The staff must also like Wardell Mack at the position, though Mack has more immediate expectations than either Niblett or Littleton.

If you’re wondering why Texas backed off of BYU’s Keelan Marion, here’s your answer.

What I don’t know for sure is what this says about the two potential wide receiver portal names I’ve heard—one for months and one more recently. I suspect Niblett’s move has absolutely zero to do with those more traditional receivers.

One thing that’s for sure, the coaches love Niblett. He’s tough, selfless, is trustworthy, etc. Then factor in his elite speed. Niblett will be in the NFL. What his exact role will be is anyone’s guess.
