The latest recruiting intel on On3 No. 1 IOL Casey Poe ahead of July 12 decision

Elite East Texas OL Casey Poe followed up a jam-packed spring with an even more focused summer, which included five official visits and two more unofficial visits between the end of May and last weekend.

Poe, On3’s top-rated interior offensive lineman out of Lindale (Texas) High School, made official visits to Georgia, Clemson, Texas Tech, Auburn and Alabama. In between stops in the Plains and Tuscaloosa, the 6-foot-4.5, 285-pound multi-sport standout made unofficial trips to both Oklahoma and LSU.

Poe wrapped up June with his final visit to Alabama before his July 12 decision. After camping in Tuscaloosa this time last year and returning to get a closer look at OL coach Eric Wolford in action this spring, I logged the first On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for Poe in favor of the Crimson Tide.

After Poe wrapped up his official visit to Alabama over the weekend, I’ve upped my level of confidence in that pick up to 70 percent.

Under area recruiter Holmon Wiggins, the Crimson Tide have been red-hot in East Texas for the past few recruiting cycles. Wiggins has been a part of Alabama’s successful pushes for the likes of EDGE Jordan Renaud, WR Jalen Hale, and RB JaMarion Miller — beating out regional favorites like the Sooners and Longhorns, among others, in the process for each blue-chip recruit.

Wiggins along with Wolford and of course, Nick Saban have loomed particularly large in Alabama’s push for Poe. After this visit back to Tuscaloosa this weekend, multiple sources involved in his recruitment have pointed to the Tide being in front over both Georgia and also Oklahoma — with a decision just two weeks away.

After getting another look at Alabama’s campus earlier this offseason, here’s what Poe said about the Tide’s place in his recruitment:

“He’s had such a huge platform with big success and he’s done it over and over and over again,” Poe said of Saban. “He’s instilled that culture so that it runs on its own. The coaches, the recruiting staff, and the players all know where to go. It’s like clockwork and it’s impressive to see. It’s fluid and everyone knows what they’re doing, and it starts at the top with Coach Saban and it trickles on down.”

“He’s like the God of College Football when he walks in the room,” the No. 34 overall player in the On300 added. “It’s easy to see it with all the success he’s had, the coaches he has have a very high standard and his presence is like an aura — it’s something that breeds success and the competition to be successful. It’s been a really cool thing to see in person.”
