The latest intel on Texas wide receiver recruiting

Inside Texas takes a closer look at the latest in wide receiver recruiting for the Class of 2025. 

Kaliq Lockett, Sachse (Texas)

The five-star in-state product continues to get closer to his August 7th announcement. And Texas continues to set the pace. Alabama and Texas A&M are pushing for his services, but Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson have been tremendous with the Metroplex prospect. 

Lockett and Jaime Ffrench also communicate on a regular basis, which certainly helps the Longhorns’ efforts. 

Speaking of Ffrench…

Jaime Ffrench, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin 

The five-star out-of-state product is also looking at an August decision before he begins his senior season. And the Horns have confidence they’re in a great spot as Ffrench approaches his announcement next month. 

Miami, Tennessee, and LSU are still in the hunt, with the Hurricanes receiving some buzz of late. Texas remains in a good spot, and they are working to get him back on campus on July 25th for the BBQ/pool party recruiting event. 

Kelshaun Johnson, Hitchcock (Texas) 

It’s down to a handful of programs for the four-star ahead of his announcement this afternoon. While USC and Arkansas made strong pitches, it’s likely a Texas-Texas A&M fight right now. 

With Texas, Johnson really likes Austin, Sarkisian, and Jackson. Johnson feels UT can use him in multiple ways. 

With Texas A&M, Johnson believes he can get on the field faster, plus the Aggies don’t possess anyone like him in the program, and feels needed. 

On3’s Steve Wiltfong has an RPM to Texas A&M right now and we don’t see anything to argue with that line of thinking at this time.
