The Flagship: Pulse check on Ole Miss’ top 2025 targets

Ole Miss is done with its non-conference schedule, turns to SEC play this weekend, and October is right around the corner.

This edition of ‘The Flagship,’ powered by College Corner and the Ole Miss Spirit (OMSpirit.com), takes a look at what the latest intel says about Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss football’s top recruiting targets in the 2025 class.

“Looking at some of the top targets in 2025, it’s still pretty much the status quo,” host Zach Berry said. Berry is the Ole Miss Spirit’s lead recruiting analyst. “A lot of it hinges on some flip targets. The big one is Deuce Knight.

“He’s still committed to Notre Dame but was in Auburn over the weekend. Deuce Knight was back in town again — I think the third trip in four weeks — and when you’re shuffling quarterbacks like that and still don’t really move the football? Held scoreless in the first half. Just not a great look, and I think Ole Miss is in the thick of that one.

“Right now it kind of looks like Notre Dame is holding serve, but with what Jaxson Dart and this offense are doing for Ole Miss, it’s only going to help its chances of flipping Deuce Knight.”

Knight is a consensus four-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

He’s the No. 2 overall player in the state of Mississippi behind only Caleb Cunningham, the five-star wide receiver committed to Alabama.

“He was at Auburn over the weekend,” Berry said of Cunningham. “He did not mince words whatsoever (after his visit), telling Jeffrey Lee, ‘I didn’t see what I wanted to see. The quarterbacks, they didn’t really know who they should have put in. The receivers played pretty good and made some plays. That’s why I didn’t really choose Auburn — they didn’t have a quarterback committed in my class.’

“Deuce Knight and Caleb Cunningham are really close friends. They talk about playing together all the time. Things will work themselves out. But a lot of the on-field performances possibly starting to influence a lot of decisions.”
