Texas releases hype video following spring scrimmage
Spring football is nearly over in Austin, with Texas getting late into their practice schedule. With that comes a scrimmage, allowing the Longhorns to see how they look in-game scenarios. A huge season is ahead of head coach Steve Sarkisian and the progress toward success begins in March.
With a few position battles taking place, spring practice is a good place for players to put themselves in a position to win out. Two days removed from the scrimmage, Sarkisian has likely had the opportunity to review the tape. Now, the fans are able to check out some of the plays made on Saturday.
The official Texas Football Twitter account released a highlight real from Saturday’s scrimmage. Plays from both the offensive and defensive end are featured and will have fans buzzing. Plenty of fresh faces are shown throughout as well, giving a good mix from an already veteran squad Sarkisian has.

Wake Forest transfer defensive back Gavin Holmes will have Texas fans hyped with him featuring toward the end of the video. He was shown hauling an interception while in coverage against tight end Gunnar Helm. Holmes projects as a starting cornerback and having that kind of highlight is a positive sign.
Quarterback Arch Manning was shown as well but not in a way Texas fans would want. The former Five-Star Plus+ prospect nearly threw an interception while having a ton of defenders in his face. The freshman was scrimmaging for the first time in his college career and nearly ran into some trouble.
Two new wide receivers shown making plays in Texas hype video
One of the positives coming out of the offseason for Texas is the reworked receiver room. Between quality recruiting and Sarkisian working the NCAA transfer portal, quarterback Quinn Ewers will have some fresh faces to throw to.
Freshman Johntay Cook is one, as he was shown catching a pass from Ewers over the middle of the field. The two have a prior relationship to being teammates, both being from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and training together. A connection to watch as Cook gets comfortable in the system.
Another was Georgia transfer AD Mitchell. For someone who has played in multiple College Football Playoff games while having success, he has the chance to emerge as a star for Texas. Mitchell was also seen making a catch, even if it looked routine for someone of his caliber.
