Texas Longhorns Tuesday Morning Recruiting Intel
The Texas Longhorns are awaiting the Friday decision of 5-star Dominick McKinley along with continuing to build out the visitor list for the season opener Saturday.
McKinley is one of four 5-stars the Longhorns are currently in recruiting battles for with decisions expected in September or October. McKinley is joined by Kobe Black, Ryan Wingo and Brandon Baker on that list.
The Longhorns are also set to welcome more than two dozen visitors Saturday for the season opener, with a new 4-star prospect confirmed Monday afternoon.
Inside Texas provides the latest recruiting intel to begin Tuesday morning.
Dominick McKinley
The 5-star defensive lineman out of Acadiana High will announce his decision Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Acadiana High. On3’s Sam Spiegelman will be on hand for the network.
McKinley has continued communication with Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Oklahoma for sure within the last 24 hours. LSU remains in contact too, IT is told. McKinley and circle have been in communication with Steve Sarkisian and Bo Davis multiple times in the last 48 hours. That communication hasn’t changed in the last week, as of Monday.
From an academic perspective, Texas A&M and Texas have a lot going for them. McKinley plans to major in computer science, and both schools are among the best in the country when looking at the Power 5 football programs that a prospect the level of McKinley will choose from. Austin is a major city with networking opportunities for days. College Station is a college town with a population essentially the same as Lafayette, which provides comfort and a home town feel. If Ohio State was within driving distance of Lafayette, the Buckeyes would have been the likely pick according to one source.
McKinley feels like Davis, Elijah Robinson, Larry Johnson and Todd Bates are all coaches he can see himself playing for. Davis’ and Johnson’s resume of player development have been popular withing the McKinley circle.
Jordan Davison looking to get back to Texas
On3 Industry Ranking 4-star and 2025 running back Jordan Davison has been on campus twice in the last year. And the No. 37 ranked prospect in the junior class could return again in September. Davison told Inside Texas Monday that he and his family are looking into the possibility of getting back to Austin September 30 for the Kansas game weekend.
The 6-foot, 210-pounder with excellent vision and instincts has built a very solid relationship with Tashard Choice in the last few months. Texas, Ohio State and USC are considered the top three at this point with Florida State fighting hard right now.
