Texas is a top school for On3 4-star EDGE Noah Carter after visit to Austin

Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial four-star EDGE Noah Carter received an offer from Texas on Feb. 20. A little less than two months later, he visited the Longhorns.

Carter spent multiple days in Austin last weekend and was in attendance for Texas’ spring game on April 15. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound pass rusher is already planning to return to The Forty Acres for an official visit.

“They really like my speed coming off the edge,” Carter told On3. “I definitely got that vibe that they want me. I’m definitely going to be back this summer.”

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator/outside linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski both spent time with Carter on his trip. Sarkisian spoke with the Arizona native about Texas’ football program and what the Longhorns have to offer on and off the field. Additionally, they discussed Carter’s official to Texas.

Meanwhile, Kwiatkowski and Carter had a meeting about what it would be like if he chose the Longhorns. Learning about the drills Texas runs and its expectations for players were some of Carter’s key takeaways from their talk.

“I got a warm welcome there,” said Carter, the No. 211 overall prospect and No. 19 EDGE in the 2024 On300. “It was just good vibes with each coach. They were telling me how it is to be a football player at the University of Texas.”

According to Carter, the Longhorns’ defensive linemen did a phenomenal job of creating pressure last season. That is one reason why Texas is currently one of his top schools.

“I’ve heard that everything’s bigger in Texas, so I expected that going in,” Carter said. “It definitely met that expectation. It was a huge campus, huge facility, huge everything.”

Carter was impressed by Texas’ fanbase and Austin

While Carter is only officially visiting Texas at the moment, he is still interested in seeing other programs. They include Miami, USC and Washington.

However, the Longhorns made a great first impression on him, especially because of their spring game. Thousands of Texas fans attended the event at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.

“We got to go down on the field and see the vibes,” Carter said. “It was very packed. I didn’t think it was going to be that packed for a spring game. Their fans are very loyal and they love their UT football.”

While at the game, Carter got to meet quarterback Arch Manning — the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Industry Ranking — and running back Bijan Robinson, who entered the 2023 NFL Draft after back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons. Robinson played high school football in Arizona at Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic.

“He told me he was from Tucson,” Carter said. “It was actually great seeing him and I just wished him luck on his adventure to the NFL.”

“He just said, ‘Texas is the place to be’ and that it’s good over there and it’s a good program,” he added. “He said that it will make me better every day, make me a better football player.”

When he returns to Austin, Carter is excited to spend more time with Texas’ players. However, the Longhorns certainly caught his attention on his most recent visit.

“It was great,” Carter said. “The people out there are very welcoming. It’s just good vibes out there. Downtown was great, the campus was great. It was definitely a warm, chill vibe.”
