Texas Hoops Recruiting: Cooper Flagg and more

The Texas Longhorns staff spent the first part of the live period in July watching a number of targets and top prospects in the classes of 2024 and 2025.
Rodney Terry and staff watched prospects on the Nike, Adidas and Under Armour AAU circuit with new prospects emerging, and the target board continuing to shift and change.
Inside Texas takes a look at the Longhorns recruiting efforts at the mid-way point in July.
Cooper Flagg offered by Texas
The Longhorns extended an offer to No. 2 in 2025 Cooper Flagg July 13. The 6-foot-9 extremely skilled forward has put together one of the best runs on the AAU circuit in history, and Texas has entered the race.
Some may question why would Texas offer Flagg. The reason is if Flagg chooses to reclassify to the 2024 class, he will play a year of college basketball. And that is expected happen. Inside Texas expects the Longhorns to offer Ace Flagg soon as well. He’s the 6-foot-7 twin brother of Cooper.
The schools mentioned most with Cooper Flagg are Duke, UConn and Kentucky.
Tre Johnson expected to make a visit in September
On3 Industry Ranking No. 3 overall and No. 1 shooting guard Tre Johnson is expected to make a visit in September prior to making a decision. He made an official visit in September of 2022, and can make a second official visit in September of 2023 under NCAA rules.
The 6-foot-5 former Lake Highlands star now at Link Academy in Missouri has Texas in his final six schools. Baylor leads the On3 RPM over Texas, Kentucky, Alabama, Kansas and Arkansas.
Terry has a long standing relationship with Johnson’s father. The 5-star and family have been on campus multiple times since Terry arrived in Austin.
