Texas A&M will host Top-50 Ohio State commit for unofficial visit

As part of Texas A&M’s big recruiting visit weekend, 2025 Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass cornerback and Ohio State commit Jontae Gilbert will be on campus in College Station tomorrow, Saturday, March 25, he tells me.

Gilbert is the No. 42 overall prospect and No. 4 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in Georgia.

The 6-foot-1, 180 pound Ohio State commit earned his offer from Texas A&M in early March, a offer that he did not expect.

“Really I was shocked when I receiver [the offer]. I haven’t had a relationship with Texas A&M,” said Gilbert.

Despite being committed to the Big 10 powerhouse Buckeyes since July 2022, Gilbert is excited about the opportunity to be recruited by the Aggies.

“I want to learn more about them and I am open to them trying to recruit me. I don’t really know much but I do know they have a great head coach that loves to win.”

Since earning that offer, he says his relationship with the staff in Aggieland has grown.

He says this visit is to grow upon that and “getting to see what’s it all about and getting to build a bond with the coaches.”

The Aggies are working to start the build of their 2025 class

Texas A&M currently doesn’t have any commitments it in its 2025 recruiting class. The Aggies do have four commitments in their 2024 recruiting class.

Jontae Gilbert currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $69K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
