Texas adds a top-30 official visitor to its massive recruiting weekend

Texas was set to host 20 official visitors over the course of the upcoming weekend. Now make it 21, and the latest addition is one of the top 30 prospects in the nation.
Inside Texas reported on the Inside Texas Members Only board on Friday evening that Birmingham (Ala.) Vestavia Hills EDGE Jordan Ross is making an official visit to Texas this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder was considered a battle between Tennessee, Georgia and Florida entering the weekend.
Ross is ranked as the No. 26 overall prospect, the No. 3 EDGE, and the No. 3 prospect in Alabama in the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
On3 ranks Ross as the No. 27 overall prospect, the No. 3 EDGE, and the No. 3 prospect in Alabama. Ross has a five-star ranking from one of the four main recruiting services.
Georgia currently leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 22.7 percent chance to land Ross.

Jordan Ross’ nickname is “Childs Play” but his teammates and high school coach say there’s nothing to kid about his game. Ross earned all-state, all-region, all-metro and even some All-America honors after the 2022 season. Ross recorded 16 tackles for a loss and had two defensive touchdowns for Vestavia Hills (Alabama) High School as a junior. “He’s got length, and he’s got great closing speed,” legendary Vestavia Hills coach Buddy Anderson said. Ross reportedly clocked a 4.6-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 35-inch vertical leap in the summer before his junior season. “He jumps off the tape,” Anderson said. Ross also jumps off the film on the basketball court, where he’s center at Vestavia Hills. “I’m an unselfish player,” Ross told TexAgs.com “I give it all on every play that I’m on the field and I want to be the best.” Ross lists former Clemson Tiger star defensive lineman Bryan Bresee as his favorite player, and he studies Bresee’s film a lot to help him improve his game.
