Texas 2025 QB Kelden Ryan took Miami midweek visit, says decision could be coming soon

Miami hosted Keller (Tx.) All Saints Episcopal 2025 quarterback Kelden Ryan for an unofficial visit earlier this week, and the 6-foot-1, 199-pound signal caller says a decision could be coming sooner rather than later.
Ryan has Miami in his top schools along with ACC rivals Virginia Tech and Duke. He said the three schools are “really the main ones that I’ve been in contact with and I’m pursuing right now,” and he’s looking at committing to a program sometime before the fall season starts.
Miami offered Ryan late in the evaluation period after offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson watched him throw in person, and he said he’s had steady contact with the Hurricanes’ coaching staff despite being an underclassman target. Miami had him on campus Tuesday for roughly a six-hour unofficial visit that included a photo shoot, campus tour, meetings with coaches and video games with off-field assistants.
Ryan is the No. 411 prospect in the class and No. 31 quarterback. He has offers including Penn State, Arkansas, Baylor and Oklahoma State.
“For me as a quarterback, I really have a chance to be the center of the class and really help build a strong class,” Ryan said. “Because if you have a good quarterback, that attracts everything. So I feel like for a quarterback to be one of the earliest commits for whatever school is a major part of recruiting.”
Ryan came to Coral Gables aware of Miami’s reputation as a championship-winning program and the school’s rich history, and he said head coach Mario Cristobal expects to compete for titles in the near future. He felt like the Hurricanes made it clear they want him on campus.
“As we all know, Miami has been a historically great program, and (Cristobal) has been around during those times, so he knows what it looks like,” Ryan said. “So he told me he plans to make big improvements and he expects to compete for championships soon and that every recruit in the nation, really, should be checking out Miami.”
Ryan has developed great respect for Dawson and believes in his abilities as an offensive coordinator. He said Dawson emphasized that by winning, “everything else will come.”
“I love coach Dawson,” Ryan said. “I can tell he’s a great offensive mind. I can tell he can put his quarterback and players in position to be successful. From what I’ve seen from coach Cristobal, he’s a great person. Not only just in football, but a great person you can connect with outside of football. Obviously he’s a great coach. He has a good resume. He’s won at different schools before, so he knows how to (instill) a winning mindset.”
Ryan said Cristobal told him “to call whenever I want” and that he has the Hurricanes’ staff excited. He’s interested in a return visit later this year.
CaneSport’s Take
It’s never too early to get a jump on future quarterbacks, especially with a lack of QB talent in South Florida at the moment. Ryan is an intriguing prospect to watch.
