Tennessee jumps two spots in On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings
Josh Heupel & Co. pulled off a major win on the recruiting trail on Saturday.
The Volunteers landed Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. — the No. 4 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking. Now the highest-rated prospect in Tennessee’s 2025 class, Sanders moved the Vols over Texas A&M and Clemson to No. 7 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
“I just love Tennessee’s coaching staff,” Sanders said in May at the On3 Elite Series in Nashville. “Coach Heupel and Coach Elarbee, they do a great job with that personal connection. I think out of anybody, they do the best job calling, texting, just staying in contact with my parents and building that relationship.
“I just feel like you can be yourself at Tennessee. There’s nothing you have to do differently. Even though it’s a big SEC school that wins a lot of games and is in contention for winning National Championships year in and year out, that’s a place you can go and freely be yourself.”
Tennessee class breakdown
Five top-100 prospects are in the mix for the Vols this cycle besides Sanders following the addition of Lyons (Ga.) Toombs County four-star safety Lagonza Hayward and four-star tight end DaSaahn Brame.
Nashville (Tenn.) Brentwood Academy four-star quarterback George MacIntyre is one of the top pledges in the class and has continued to play lead recruiter for the Vols. Now the No. 8 QB in the nation, the gunslinger is also the No. 1 player in Tennessee.
Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star interior offensive lineman Douglas Utu and Elkhart (Ind.) Central four-star EDGE Mariyon Dye highlight the six June additions for UT. Both are top-100 recruits, while Somerville (N.J.) four-star EDGE Jayden Loftin and Dandridge (Tenn.) Jefferson County four-star IOL Nic Moore also pledged last month.
Other top commits in Tennessee’s class include: Atlanta Westlake four-star wide receiver Travis Smith and Covington (Ga.) Eastside four-star linebacker Christian Gass, Nashville Ensworth four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley, Memphis Sheffield four-star WR Radarious Jackson and Southlake (Texas) Carroll four-star tight end Jack Van Dorselaer.
