Talking Texas with defensive tackle D’antre Robinson
Orlando, Fla. – One of the top targets on the board on the defensive line for the Texas Longhorns in the 2024 class is D’antre Robinson.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound On3 Industry Ranking 4-star has June official visits scheduled to Florida and Texas. The Gators and Longhorns are the top two schools right now for the athletic defensive tackle prospect.
“Yes sir, they are recruiting me the hardest,” Robinson told On3. “Them, and Colorado. They are recruiting me super hard. They are showing me a lot of love. And I know I can play early.”
Texas area recruiter Tashard Choice and defensive line coach Bo Davis are scheduled to be at Jones High next week.
Prior to Jones High practice Thursday, Robinson sat down with On3 to give the latest on his recruitment. That included his thoughts on the Longhorns.
Robinson on Texas
Robinson has family in Texas: “My sister stays in Texas. I think in Arlington. Texas shows a lot of love. I see a few of the players from Orlando went to Texas. Cedric Baxter and Payton Kirkland, they showed me around on my unofficial visit. And I really enjoyed my visit there.”
Baxter and Kirkland on their experience at Texas: “They are telling me that they really love the school. The training, they feel like they are getting so much better in their development. Cedric Baxter scored in his first spring game, and that shows that he loves it there.”
Robinson on Bo Davis: “Coach Bo Davis coached at the highest level in football, so that right there shows you how good of a coach he can be. What he can do to develop me.”
Robinson on area recruiter Tashard Choice: “Coach Choice is always good. He knows his stuff. He’s going to develop you, and work his hardest to make sure you are the best player on and off the field.”
Robinson on potentially going far from home: “I mean, it’s not going to be a tough decision. I used to play AAU basketball, so I used to travel a lot. I was always away from home, and I never thought I wanted to go back home. I love being away from home sometimes, so it’s not some deciding factor.”
The competition
Robinson mentioned several programs Thursday. The ones to watch are Florida, Texas, Colorado, Georgia, LSU and Ohio State. The Buckeyes offered Thursday. Florida (June 2-4) and Texas (June 16-18) are scheduled June official visits. LSU, Ohio State and possibly Georgia are likely to receive official visits in June.
Robinson’s last visit was Colorado for the Buffaloes spring game.
