Sweet 16 Tickets in Indianapolis are a Hot Commodity

Sweet 16 Tickets in Indianapolis are a Hot Commodity

Kentucky punched its ticket to the Sweet 16 with wins over Troy and Illinois. It’s going to be a lot harder for Big Blue Nation to get a ticket inside Lucas Oil Stadium to see the Wildcats in action.

Indianapolis is an ideal NCAA Tournament host city for Kentucky. It’s only about 90 minutes from Louisville and three hours from Lexington. That’s an easy drive. It’s an even easier drive for Purdue fans. West Lafayette is only an hour away from Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s a further drive for Tennessee fans, but doable. Houston has the longest active Sweet 16 streak in the country. Surely, some of their fans planned ahead and purchased tickets prior to their second round victory over Gonzaga.

That combination is a perfect storm to create a tough ticket to find on the secondary market. Fortunately, this game is not at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. However, we will not see Lucas Oil Stadium at Final Four capacity.

The home of the Indianapolis Colts will be cut in half. Instead of hosting 70,000 or even 40,000 college basketball fans, it will seat around 20,000 for Friday’s Sweet 16 games.

Our friends at SeatGeek are giving the KSR audience a 10% discount when you use promo code KSR10. That still puts the get-in price for the Sweet 16 near $300.

Finding a ticket to catch the Cats in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2019 will cost you, but it will be worth it if Kentucky can end Tennessee’s season in the NCAA Tournament.

March Memories at Lucas Oil Stadium

Indianapolis turned into a house of horrors for Kentucky basketball fans. Zion Williamson‘s Duke team scored 100+ points in a Champions Classic route and it was the site of the infamous overtime loss to Saint Peter’s. However, those games were played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the home of the Pacers.

Lucas Oil Stadium has been much friendlier to Big Blue Nation, with one big exception. The only loss in 2015 was against Wisconsin in the football stadium. The year before, Kentucky fans were treated to a few magical moments. Aaron Harrison hit a game-winner over Michigan to send the Cats to the Final Four. That was two days after Kentucky upset a rival in the Sweet 16. Beating another rival in the Sweet 16 would provide a full-circle moment, allowing BBN to exorcise its Indianapolis demons.
