Stock Report: Six Georgia players trending up after spring practice

Stock Report: Six Georgia players trending up after spring practice

Georgia wrapped up a five-week spring practice on Saturday with a 20-20 tie in the annual G-Day spring scrimmage. As far as we know, the Bulldogs managed to get healthier over the course of that five weeks as a few key players sat out and nursed injuries while a few more overcame ailments that limited them early on.

Now it’s on to the summer months where players will work out until May before getting a short break. The team will come back together around the start of June to work out more in preparation for preseason camp. Before we get to that point, DawgsHQ has five Georgia players we believe to be trending upward after spring drills.

WR Arian Smith: G-Day wasn’t all that notable for the speedy wideout. After generating all sorts of buzz this spring and standing out in the first two Georgia scrimmages, Smith was pretty quiet in the G-Day game. With that said, he still raised his stock over the course of five weeks. The Florida native gained some much needed confidence and will have a significant role in the Bulldog offense.

S KJ Bolden: Word out of the Georgia football facility is that Bolden has the goods. The former five-star prospect still has a lot to learn but sources tell DawgsHQ that Bolden had a productive first spring in Athens and is a significantly better player and more prepared player now than when spring drills began. The summer is big for Bolden as he tries to earn himself a major role as a freshman.

WR Colbie Young: When you bring in a veteran player from the transfer portal, you expect certain levels of preparedness and consistency. Young seems to have met those expectations in his first spring at Georgia. It started early and it continued through the G-Day game where Young showed the ability to make tough catches and use his large frame in the red zone.

DL Christen Miller: Here we have one of those players who was banged up to start the spring but once he got things going, it was all upward from there. DawgsHQ spoke with a source earlier this week who said that Miller had some dominant flashes. He’s going to wear multiple hats on that Georgia defense with his ability to help out at nose and defensive tackle. If he stays on his current trajectory, the redshirt sophomore is in for a big season.

DB Joenel Aguero: The sophomore STAR/nickel surrendered some completions in the G-Day game but there’s two things that must be factored in. First and foremost, he plays a very tough position where every receiver he faces has a two-way go. Secondly, he was up against one of the best players on Georgia’s offense in Dominic Lovett. Aguero strengthened his grip on a starting job this spring and showed the ability to consistently get himself in position to make plays.

CB Ellis Robinson: While Robinson didn’t get any first-team work in the G-Day game, he’s still firmly in the mix for a key role. That’s about all you can ask from a true freshman, even if he was the No. 1 cornerback in the country coming out of high school. Robinson didn’t give up much of anything in the G-Day game and he had an impressive first spring at Georgia.
