Steelers QB Kenny Pickett marries fiancée Amy Paternoster

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett tied the knot to end the month of June, following a year-and-a-half-long engagement to his fiancée Amy Paternoster.

The Steelers shared a photo of the happy newlyweds leaving the altar at the Pleasantdale Chateau in New Jersey on June 24. John Bacolo of Gabelli Studios provided photos and video of the well-attended event on Instagram.

Pickett proposed to Paternoster last January ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. He wrote in a post about the proposal: “Got tired of calling you my girlfriend…here’s to a lifetime with the person I cherish more than anything in the world.”

The two were side-by-side when Pickett received the call from the Steelers that revealed he was going to be their selection with the 20th pick in the first round.

Following the wedding, Pasternator quickly changed her last name on social media to Pickett. Also an athlete, the new Mrs. Pickett played soccer at Princeton.

Pickett ready for Year Two with Steelers

The 2023 football season will be the former Pitt Panther’s first as a married man and his first as the leader of the Steelers’ offense after taking over for Mitch Trubisky as a rookie. In 13 games played last season, Pickett threw for 2,404 yards with seven touchdowns and nine interceptions.

With a full season under his belt, Pickett is getting first-team reps this time around, and he’s noticed a big difference from last offseason.

“A lot,” Pickett said of how much different this summer is. “I’m getting a lot more reps than I ever was last year. I feel a lot more comfortable being in the system the second time around, being with these guys for year two. We’re heading in the right direction. I feel that. Just got to keep showing up every day.”

Pickett and the Steelers are in a solid position to build off last year. Pittsburgh ended the season 9-8 to avoid the first sub-.500 season under Mike Tomlin.

Though not overly fruitful, he built a strong connection with wide receiver and fellow rookie George Pickens that will pay off in 2023. Pickens had 801 receiving yards and a team-high four touchdowns.

Growing his chemistry with offensive coordinator Matt Canada is also a high priority for Pickett this offseason.

“It’s constant communication,” Pickett said during OTAs. “That’s the key, I think, between a quarterback and the OC. Knowing what he likes, knowing what I like in certain situations. The two-minute’s a big deal, understanding how he likes the flow of the game and what he usually goes with really helps me out. That we have that constant communication, I think, is what’s key.”
