EDGE George Wilson – 4/23/25 (Campbell)
Over five years since EDGE George Wilson originally committed to South Carolina as a high school prospect in 2020, the talented pass-rusher will finally suit up in the Garnet and Black this season.
Now a transfer from Campbell, Wilson inked with the Gamecocks Tuesday night via the transfer portal, helping South Carolina fill a major need and giving Wilson another opportunity at the Power 4 level.
He has one year of eligibility left.

EDGE Demon Clowney – 4/10/25 (Louisville)
Former Louisville EDGE Demon Clowney, the cousin of Gamecocks Great Jadeveon Clowney, signed with South Carolina via the transfer portal and has one year of eligibility remaining.
The younger Clowney signed with Louisville via the portal in December but never suited up for the Cardinals, re-entering last month before signing with Carolina on Thursday.
Clowney spent the last two seasons at Charlotte where he played in 22 games tallying 10.0 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks. Clowney’s time in the Queen City came after three seasons with Ole Miss where he played in just eight games and had 12 total tackles.

Departures (4)
QB Dante Reno – 4/24/25
South Carolina rising redshirt freshman quarterback Dante Reno is entering the transfer portal after one year in Columbia, GamecockCentral has learned.
“Gamecock Nation, thank you for everything,” Reno told GamecockCentral’s Mike Uva. “This wasn’t an easy decision. South Carolina is a special place, and it’s because of the people. That will never change.”
The former three-star quarterback appeared briefly at the end of the Akron game last year but otherwise redshirted during his freshman campaign.
WR/DB Jace Blackshear (walk-on) – 4/22/25
The Hilton Head native moved to WR this spring after spending his first three seasons at DB. The RS JR has appeared in 6 games.
OL Kam Pringle – 4/21/25
The big fella just finished his second spring with the program but missed some time with an injury. Pringle arrived in Columbia last offseason with high expectations as a 4-star prospect. However, multiple injuries and a crowded depth chart ahead of him muddied the waters.
EDGE Wendell Gregory – 4/16/25 (Oklahoma State)
Recruited as a linebacker, Gregory switched to EDGE during his true freshman season in 2024, playing in two games and collecting a tackle while taking a redshirt. The former four-star prospect quickly committed to Oklahoma State.
CB Emory Floyd – 4/16/25
The rising redshirt junior played in seven games over the past three seasons primarily serving as a reserve at cornerback. He has not announced a destination as of this writing.

Transfer portal background information
The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.
The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
