The Southern Miss and Tennessee game in the Hattiesburg Super Regional on Saturday afternoon is currently in a weather delay. The Golden Eagles currently lead the Volunteers 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Southern Miss has hit three home runs, one in the first, third, and fourth inning. The game has been delayed due to lightning in the area in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Umpires convened on the field and discussed the matter, before sending both teams to their dugouts around 4:18 PM EST.
The Tennessee Volunteers punched their tickets to the Hattiesburg Super Regional after they defeated the Charlotte 49ers and the Clemson Tigers in the Clemson Regional in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Baseball Tournament. Their 6-5 victory over the Clemson Tigers in 14 innings was one of the best games of the tournament so far.
We’ll have to see when the game gets underway on Saturday evening. Weather has wreaked havoc across several other college baseball games.
