WNBA training camps began April 30 and thirteen players with Gamecock ties were participants. That includes two-time reigning MVP A’ja Wilson, the five players selected in this year’s draft, and a pair of veterans with training camp invites.

Players with an asterisk (*) have signed training camp contracts. They do not count against the salary cap or roster limits but must be waived or converted to a standard contract before the regular season begins.

Other:

Doniyah Cliney – It was reported last week that Cliney would sign a training camp contract with Connecticut. As of the close of business Monday, that still has not happened. Cliney was still playing in Europe Sunday when she won a league championship, which could be a reason for the delay.

Kaela Davis – Davis bounced around the league last season but finished strong when she was forced into playing for injury-depleted Phoenix in the playoffs. Davis scored 23 points in an elimination game, enough to seemingly secure a roster invite this season. However, Davis suffered a torn Achilles in January while playing in the offseason. The injury likely keeps Davis out for the entire 2023 WNBA season.
