Gamecock Chloe Kitts is one of two players with South Carolina ties named to the USA Basketball U19 team.

USA Basketball announced the roster for the Fiba U19 World Cup late Monday. 

Rising Camden High senior Joyce Edwards also made the final roster. Edwards is one of two rising high school seniors, along with Allie Ziebell. Ziebell has committed to UConn. Edwards remains uncommitted.

Talaysia Cooper, who is a rising sophomore like Kitts, was invited to the trials but did not make the final cut.

Kitts joined the Gamecocks in December of last season as an early enrollee. She averaged 1.6 points and 1.6 rebounds in 18 games. Kitts is a versatile player who can play multiple positions and shoot the ball well. She has added 13 pounds of muscle since enrolling to help her be more effective in the paint.

Kitts also was part of the U18 team last year that won a gold medal. She averaged 7.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.2 blocks in about 16 minutes. South Carolina has two players competing for USA Basketball this summer. Raven Johnson was named to the AmeriCup team on Sunday.

The U19 World Cup will be held from July 15-23 in Madrid. The tournament will be the first FIBA competition played on a new glass court. The court is plain glass and all the markings are made by adjustable LED graphics.
