South Carolina offensive tackle entering transfer portal
South Carolina offensive tackle Sidney Fugar is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, GamecockCentral.com has learned.
The Waldorf (Maryland) product began his college career at Western Illinois, where he spent two seasons before transferring to the Gamecocks program.
During the 2023 campaign, Fugar played in 10 games for USC starting in the first three games of the season and tallying four overall starts. He did not play in the final two contests.

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer mentioned during a Wednesday night stop at the Welcome Home Tour in Columbia that more than one player had expressed interest in transferring during post-spring exit interviews.
“Yeah, a couple of guys that weren’t necessarily surprises, but a couple that I think are going to explore that route. Just the opportunity to play more,” Beamer said. “I’ll let them announce that or put their name in the portal whenever they’re ready to. But kind of expect that at the end of the spring. And again, you want guys to have good experiences and good opportunities. And if that means going somewhere, where you can play a little bit more, certainly wish those guys well. And all of them have been honest and positive conversations.”
All told, Fugar has played in a total of 20 games at the college level, with experience at both left and right tackle. The 6-foot-5, 325-pounder played his high school football at St. Thomas More Academy in Maryland.
