South Carolina men’s basketball lands Austrian big man via transfer portal

UC San Diego transfer big man Nordin Kapic has committed to South Carolina men’s basketball, GamecockCentral has learned.
The 6-foot-8, 245-pound Austrian averaged 10.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season for the Big West Tournament Champion Tritons.

Kapic is the sixth transfer portal addition to a Gamecocks roster that is being completely rebuilt this offseason.
Guard Meechie Johnson (Ohio State), center Christ Essandoko (Providence), guard Kobe Knox (USF), forward Elijah Strong (Boston College), and guard Mike Sharavjamts have all joined the program via the portal this offseason.
In his lone season at UCSD, Kapic played in 34 games, including 33 starts, shooting 39 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent from 3-point range, and 74.8 percent from the free throw line.

Prior to arriving in San Diego, Kapic spent two seasons at DII Lynn where he was Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year in 2022-23 and First Team All-Sunshine State Conference in 2023-24.
A native of Vienna, Austria, Kapic played on the U20 Austrian National Team.
Ranked a three-star prospect, Kapic is considered the No. 102 PF and No. 479 overall prospect in the portal, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Kapic has one year of eligibility left.
