Sooners to Get the Last Shot at Casey Poe
LINDALE, Texas – Oklahoma’s 2024 class is starting to take shape and few players are the Sooners pushing harder for than offensive line offer Casey Poe. The big man has been a heavy target for Bill Bedenbaugh and co. since picking up an offer last summer during the Sooners June camps.
The Sooners are one of six official visits that Poe will be taking this summer, and in fact will be his last trip on July 28. Poe will hit Georgia this weekend before heading to Clemson on June 2, Texas Tech on June 9, and finish the month in the middle of the Iron Bowl rivalry with Auburn on June 16, and Alabama on June 23.
The Sooners, led by Bedenbaugh, have put a lot of work into Poe but according to him there’s more to his interest in the Sooners than simply the relationship with the staff.
“SOUL mission is a huge part of Oklahoma for me, there is not really another program that, I know when coach V came from Clemson he kind of took the PAW program and brought it over there and turned it into his own. But besides those two there’s not really another program like it,” Poe said of the Sooners to SCOOPHD in the above interview. “They take their kids on mission trips, fishing trips, they buy them suits, they teach them how to cook, how to change a tire. It’s all the little things, it’s all things I’m looking for.
“They’d be able to help me grow as a person, as a person of God. Go out into the business world and have a micro internship off of that program while I’m still playing. It’s definitely a huge selling point for them and a thing that I really like.”
