Sooners Keep Pushing In-State with Kysar Commitment

On Wednesday morning Oklahoma got a commitment for the third straight day, and their second in-state commitment since Sunday. This time it was an interesting one from Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe defensive end Bergin Kysar. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound pass rusher is On3’s No. 7 prospect in the state and has been around Oklahoma more and more through the summer.

After his trip to the Party at the Palace, along with a summer camp workout, Kysar came away impressed with what Oklahoma had to offer.

“The last couple of visits there were really good. Coach (Miguel) Chavis and Coach (Brent) Venables really sold me (on Oklahoma),” Kysar said.

Kysar chose the Sooners over offers from Oklahoma State, Tulsa, UNLV, Sam Houston St., and Navy.

As a junior for the Wolves, Kysar had 42 tackles (23 solo) and five sacks. The Sooners new commitment has been a multi-year starter for Kyle White at Santa Fe. His head coach can’t say enough good things about Oklahoma’s latest pledge.

“Bergin is a great young man with extremely high character and work ethic. (He is) an excellent student in the classroom as well. He is a young man that every Sooner fan will be happy he is in the program and representing Oklahoma,” White said. “Bergin is passionate about football, being the best he can be and doing anything he can to help his team win. He’s a very talented young man.”
