First, Ty Evans homered for the Florida Gators. Then, it was Wyatt Langford’s turn. Soon after, Luke Heyman hit a sacrifice fly to deep center with the bases loaded.
Just like that, a 5-3 hole entering the bottom of the ninth ended in a stunning 6-5 Gators win over Virginia.
And it came on the biggest stage in all of college baseball.
Welcome to Day 1 of the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., where Florida rallied to produce one of the most thrilling baseball wins in school history.
The Gators (51-15 overall) are 1-0 in Omaha and will next play Oral Roberts in the winners bracket.
