SMU set to host 2024 LB for official visit

SMU set to host 2024 LB for official visit

2024 Gulfport (Miss.) linebacker Eric Moore, Jr. added an SMU offer earlier this month and will officially visit next month. The 6-2, 210-pound prospect will head to the Hilltop June 9, he told On3.

He’s also got official visits set for Georgia Tech on June 16 and Liberty on June 23.

SMU linebackers coach Maurice Crum is building a relationship with him. Crum left Ole Miss for Dallas and Moore has done his research on the former Notre Dame captain.

“It’s a pretty good. Coach Crum and I are building a great relationship over these past few weeks,” Moore told On3. “I really like how he gets down! He is different from any other coach. He’s dedicated to the game. Also, I spoke with some former players of his. They told me he’s all that consistently and that what I like to hear.”

With the Mustangs extending an offer on the field, it’s the combination of what the school offers off the field that stands out as well.

“I think SMU could be a place that could not just better me for football, but get me prepared if football doesn’t work after my four years,” he said.

Pair of programs battling SMU for Moore

Georgia Tech hosted him twice this spring and will get him back in Atlanta for an official visit. Defensive coordinators Kevin Sherrer and Andrew Thacker are leading the charge on him.

“I really like Georgia Tech,” he said. “Coach Sherrer and coach Thacker showed lots of love the past two times I’ve been in Atlanta. Also, you can’t forget the city, it’s a whole vibe. I love the environment and how welcoming the coaching staff and the players are!”

Liberty will wrap up his month of June by hosting him and the Flames have a long-standing tie with linebackers coach Josh Linam.

“Liberty is another one that’s on the board,” Moore said. “They’ve reaching out to me every other day either sending mail or texting or calling. They’ve been showing major love. I can’t wait until I get out there to meet the whole coaching staff. Also, coach Linam’s been recruiting me since he was at Auburn so I’ve been top on his board since he got over to Liberty.”

Georgia Tech leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Moore over SMU and Liberty. Moore said Mississippi State, Tulane, Arkansas State and Memphis are programs that are also involved with him. He plans to make a decision mid-season.

“I’m looking for a program that builds me in football and pushes me to the best of my potential and a program that helps me get prepared and situated for after football is over.”
