SMU Football gears up for first official visit weekend

SMU welcomes its first round of official visitors of the summer this weekend and the Mustangs are looking to start building its 2024 class up even more.

*** 2024 Gulfport (Miss.) linebacker Eric Moore, Jr. added an SMU offer last month and will officially visit this weekend. The 6-2, 210-pound prospect also has official visits set for Georgia Tech on June 16 and Liberty on June 23. Georgia Tech leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Moore over SMU and Liberty. Moore said Mississippi State, Tulane, Arkansas State and Memphis are programs that are also involved with him. He plans to make a decision mid-season, but the Mustangs will turn up the heat here on the newly offered prospect.

*** 2024 North Crowley (Tex.) defensive lineman Sterlin Brooks, a 6-5, 330-pounder, also has his official visit this weekend. The Mustangs were the first to offer, but since then he’s added Baylor, North Texas, Houston and TCU offers to his plate. SMU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but now has a battle on its hands to reel in the fast-rising prospect. Baylor hosts him next weekend before he squeezes in Kansas and Houston official visits to close out June. LSU, Oklahoma and Texas are showing interest as well for Brooks, who plans to take his recruitment to the start of his senior season.

*** 2024 Arlington (Tex.) Bowie safety Kris Wokomah locked in his official visit to kick off this week. SMU is battling the likes of Baylor and Texas Tech for the four-star safety, who will also host him this month for official visits. On3 ranks Wokomah as the No. 300 overall prospect in the country and No. 30 safety in the nation. SMU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but the two in-state programs aren’t going to back down easily.
