Six Notre Dame commits with the most senior season intrigue

Six Notre Dame commits with the most senior season intrigue

All 20 of Notre Dame’s current class of 2024 commitments will be players we’ll be following closely this fall at Blue & Gold, but there are a half dozen who I feel are the most intriguing for various reasons.

Here’s the list of those players and why. The recruits are listed in alphabetical order.

West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West DB Taebron Bennie-Powell

Notre Dame may have been able to land a higher-ranked safety recruit in North Carolina four-star Malcolm Ziglar (key word there is may), but it went after the less-heralded, three-star in Bennie-Powell after seeing him camp in June. For me personally, I always like to track the lower-ranked players to see how they progress, and Bennie-Powell is definitely one.

He played more of a rover-type position as a junior because his squad had safety recruits headed to Ohio State (Malik Hartford) and Notre Dame (Ben Minich). When Bennie-Powell gets to play at his natural safety position to go along with his experience as a junior, he could be in store for a huge year.

Saline (Mich.) High QB CJ Carr

This one doesn’t take much explanation. Notre Dame’s quarterback commit will always have intrigue, and when you combine that with the commotion about him being ranked the No. 14 signal-caller per On3, then yeah, there’s a lot of intrigue. Carr is in store for a huge senior season at Saline.

Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller CB Karson Hobbs

The former South Carolina commit can be a forgotten figure in the class at times. Hobbs is a three-star prospect across the board, but he is a darn good prospect at the position and a technician. Rankings aside, I’m looking at Hobbs as a player to take his game to the next level.

Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic TE Jack Larsen

Last summer when Larsen committed to the Irish, he was an On3 Industry Ranking four-star recruit and and a top-250 player nationally. And if I recall correctly, a website or two ranked him as a top-100 player at one point or another. I’m not sure why, but Larsen is now a three-star per two sites and a four-star outside of the national rankings according to a couple others.

Larsen isn’t a 6-6 tight end, but he is an outstanding receiver and one who people are sleeping on. And I’m looking forward to seeing how he looks as a senior.

Omaha (Neb.) Westside LB Teddy Rezac

Similarly to my reasoning on Bennie-Powell, Rezac makes the list because he’s a projection take by the Irish staff, and I’m really intrigued to see if he’s able to put it together even more as a senior.

Charlotte (N.C.) Christian EDGE Bryce Young

My sources on the Notre Dame side of things rave nonstop about Young. He’s ranked as a top-200 player nationally per On3, so our analysts are high on him, but could he climb even more? Remember, Young played about 225 pounds or so as a junior, and he’s in the 250-pound range now. I can’t wait to see how his game develops this fall.
