Signing with Vols ‘everything I dreamed of’ for DB Tyler Redmond

Tyler Redmond has been committed to Tennessee since November of 2023, so signing his National Letter of Intent moments ago was a long-time coming. Redmond and his Milton High School (Ga.) team are still in pursuit of a Class 5A state title, and after this run ends, he will get his career started on Rocky Top.

“It is great,” Redmond told Volquest prior to to signing his National Letter of Intent and seeing the process end. “It is everything I dreamed of. Just excited and getting ready to focus on the task at hand and do good for the program and make a name for myself.”

Before Redmond gets to campus, he has unfinished business with his teammates. Redmond feels like they have accomplished a lot this season already, but the ultimate goal of winning a state championship remains intact.

Home sweet home!

“I feel like we have accomplished going through with another undefeated season and showing who we are,” Redmond said. “Just not letting too many teams score on us through the air, and the main thing is continuing to accomplish the goal of striving for a state championship.”

The three-star defensive back says to win another title, Milton just has to continue doing what they do.

“It is just going back to the basics and taking those countless hours from the summer and the extra work and using those to be who we are. We have done this once before, and we just have to stay true to ourselves and do what we do.”

After his pursuit of a state title, Redmond will turn his attention immediately to Tennessee. This is something he is excited about as well.

“I am just ready to learn how the coaches coach and see how they want me to fit into their system,” he said of this. “I want to learn what I can from the playbook and the guys in front of me to get ahead for the next season. I want to take in what they do and put it into my own game.”

The Scout on Redmond

“Tyler Redmond has put together some pretty good film as a junior at Milton playing high level competition ,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power told Volquest at the time of Redmond’s commitment. “He is playing outside corner and shown good technique. He is good in press coverage and stays attached off the line of scrimmage. He does well mirroring receivers and appears to have pretty good instincts in coverage. It’s helped to see him going against good competition since he came over to Milton,” Power said. “He has shown to play well in a high level in a high classification in Georgia. Still looking forward to learning more about him from an athleticism and physical traits perspective but the film is encouraging and he shows some good cover ability and encouraging skill.”
