Signing Day Tracker: LSU Women’s basketball finalizes No. 1 class
Signing Day is underway for LSU women’s basketball as Kim Mulkey and the Tigers look to finalize another cycle with the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. With four commits, the expected to sign on Wednesday, the excitement around the program is at an all-time high as LSU continues to add to an already elite program moving into the future.
Here, we’ll be updating this signing day tracker as the players announce their signings and they become official. We’ll have breakdowns of each one of their games and quotes from them on their decision to commit to LSU.
ZaKiyah Johnson — SIGNED
11/13/2024 09:24:56 AM
6-foot guard from Shelbyville, Kentucky
On3 Ranking — No. 4 overall, No. 1 shooting guard
Skillset — A physical guard who can score at every level and has a smooth shooting stroke , Johnson can absolutely fill it up. Her wingspan and strength set her up to be a versatile wing who can use her body similar to Mikaylah Williams, getting the ball on the block or in the midpost and backing girls down. There’s rebounding and defensive potential that LSU will certainly capitalize on and her feel for the game at this size is truly special, handling and passing with either hand.
Quote — “I picked LSU for their culture,” Johnson said. “I know coach Mulkey and her players know what it takes to be on the big stage and win a championship and I want to be competing with player I hadn’t seen normally, living here in Kentucky my whole life. Now it’s time to explore and I love how they made it still feel like home.”
