Shedeur Sanders NFL Draft slide: ESPN insider reveals possible Round 2 landing spots

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders was clearly the storyline coming out of the 2025 NFL Draft with his slide out of round one on Thursday. That turns all eyes to Friday for him with several teams getting another pass at him now in round two.
‘Get Up’ discussed several topics this morning of how and why that Sanders slid from being a first-rounder. That then included multiple teams like the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Rams, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers just based on positional need still, on the list of possible second-round spots for Sanders.
“Yeah, if he’s not Cleveland’s guy then it, then you start to worry, right. Raiders at 37, maybe if they’re thinking long-term. And then you start looking at, like, Rams, Seahawks, teams that might do it. But, that’s what I’m saying. If he starts to tumble a little bit then maybe you’re talking about – Yes, Saints, Saints at 40 is another spot to watch…Possible destinations, yeah. There’s no doubt about it,” said ESPN’s Dan Graziano. “But again, like, it’s, it’s eye of the beholder, right. The Giants decided they liked Jaxson Dart better. So, if Cleveland doesn’t want him, they’re not going to take him just because they have an extra second-round pick and they need a quarterback.”
The Browns are the team at the top of the second round that would be most likely as they now have two of the first four picks in the round, with the other two selections there to start not going with a quarterback, after trading back from No. 2 to No. 5, while getting No. 36 in the process, with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, with their quarterback room of Deshaun Watson as well as Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, a young prospect with potential is what they need at the position.
The Raiders could then look at him again if he’s still there at No. 37. The same could be the case for the Rams at No. 46. Both of those would make him a likely backup to start his pro career, behind Geno Smith in Las Vegas and Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles respectively, before later becoming QB1 for either franchise.
Another option there is the New Orleans Saints at No. 40. It was recently thought that New Orleans, with the question regarding Derek Carr now, could have taken Sanders in the first round. They could still get him now, though, to finish off the top-forty instead of in the top-ten.
As for the rest of the second round, the one other team with possible needs at quarterback would be a franchise like the New York Jets at No. 42. Besides that, another trade by a team with need at the position, and a want to pick him, would probably be required.
Every franchise in the NFL had its chance last night to select Sanders. With that, each of the 32 passed with a few getting an opportunity to reconsider him in Rounds 2 or 3 on Friday night.
