Shea’s Take: Updating the LSU On3 RPM picks

Shea’s Take: Updating the LSU On3 RPM picks

With LSU on a run of new commitments over the past month, which dominos could be next to fall in the 2025 class?

The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon has four On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) picks in for LSU, which includes recruits from Louisiana, South Carolina and Georgia.

There are also On3 RPM picks already in for the 2026 cycle on a trio of Bayou State natives who are all ranked by On3 as Top 50 prospects nationally.

Here’s the latest updates and thoughts on the seven RPM picks I’ve made in favor of LSU.

Updating LSU’s 2025 class predictions

Phillip Wright III – WR – New Orleans (La.) … Wright backed off his commitment to Michigan on August 4, meaning he was committed to the Wolverines for less than a month. LSU hosted Wright for the Bayou Splash at the end of June, and an offer from LSU’s track-and-field program only added to the program’s push. Toss in Wright being a Destrehan High product, and all signs point to the Tigers. My On3 RPM pick is in for LSU with a 75% confidence rating. With Destrehan prospects typically shutting things down before their senior season, Wright is firmly on “Commit Watch”.

Aidan Anding – CB – Ruston (La.) … Anding nearly popped for Texas in June, but he backed off revealing a college choice when LSU offered. Since then, Anding has visited Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash and put himself firmly atop the cornerback board as one of the biggest targets left for the Tigers this cycle. Texas has made a big impression with Anding, but I think a continued push from LSU will be enough to land the Ruston High rising senior. I’ve got my On3 RPM pick on LSU with a 75% confidence rating.

Mike Tyler – TE – Columbia (S.C.) … Tyler is expected to announce his college choice this month, meaning LSU has the chance to add a second tight end to the class before senior seasons begin for 2025 prospects. Louisiana 4-star tight end JD LaFleur is already committed to the Tigers, and LSU hosted Tyler three times across the months of June and July. Now, the Tigers hold a firm lead on the On3 RPM, and my LSU pick is in with a 70% confidence rating.

Walter Mathis Jr. – Savannah (Ga.) … LSU has surged this summer with Mathis, who made an official visit to Baton Rouge in July. Auburn, Clemson and Miami also landed official visits, and while Mathis has kept things close to the vest throughout his recruitment, multiple sources feel LSU has done enough to be in the driver’s seat for the Georgia defensive tackle. Look for Mathis to make his college announcement in August, he tells On3’s Chad Simmons, who has logged an On3 RPM pick in favor of the Tigers. My LSU On3 RPM pick is in with a 75% confidence rating.

Top 100 targets in the 2026 class

Jahkeem Stewart – DL – New Orleans (La.) … During LSU’s Bayou Splash, I moved my confidence rating up to 80% for On3’s No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class. There might not be a 2026 prospects who has made more college visits around the country than Stewart, and the 5-star defensive lineman has been high on programs like Ohio State, USC, Alabama and more. Still, when the dust settles, no school is expected to make Stewart a bigger priority than in-state LSU. And with Frank Wilson’s ties to St. Augustine and Stewart’s camp, the Tigers are set up nicely here in what would be a massive recruiting win to reel in the 5-star defensive lineman.

Jabari Mack – WR – New Orleans (La.) … Mack, a Top 5 wide receiver on On3, has been to LSU’s campus multiple times over the summer months, including a trip to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash. He was joined on the visit by a pair of Destrehan High teammates in LSU commit Jhase Thomas and LSU target Phillip Wright III, who is trending to the Tigers on the On3 RPM following his decision to back off his commitment to Michigan. Between Mack’s interest in LSU and the program’s track record at Destrehan, my On3 RPM pick is in for the Tigers with a 75% confidence rating.

Lamar Brown – OL/DL – Baton Rouge (La.) … Brown has talked up plenty of programs early on in his recruitment, and LSU’s staff has been more than fine with the 5-star two-way standout taking visits around the country. As a University High starter, Brown attends high school on LSU’s campus, so there was never a doubt the rising junior would want to check out life outside of Baton Rouge. But there won’t be a staff who has closer ties to Brown and his family, and no school will host the 5-star more than LSU. With the chance to play on the offensive or defensive line for the Tigers, LSU’s push will only continue to heat up as Brown begins his junior season. There’s no timetable for a decision, but my On3 RPM pick for LSU was placed in March with a 70% confidence score, and I have no reason to move my prediction at this stage.
