Day 2 of the Shane Beamer Camp took place on Friday as around 300 campers emerged on the South Carolina campus to take part in the five-hour event.
GamecockCentral was on hand and has updates below.
— We didn’t know that Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley class of 2026 quarterback Faizon Brandon would be in attendance today but we were quickly looking to identify who he was after watching just a couple of his reps.
It was easy to see why the 6-foot-4, 174-pounder has early offers from schools like North Carolina, N.C. State and Duke.
With some guys it’s just apparent from the jump that they’re FBS material and that was the case with Brandon who combined a nice frame with a smooth delivery and tight spiral. The ball really jumps off his hand and he was able to deliver it down the field on the deep comeback route with velocity and a high RPM based on the eye test.
Brandon also looks smooth and balanced in his dropback and sort of immediately jumped off the page to me.
There’s a lot more than camp performance to playing the quarterback position and Carolina has been deliberate with their offers at the position but with two more seasons of high school ball left, we’d imagine Brandon is easily on the radar now if he wasn’t before.

— Several prospects from the PPI Recruits Academy were among the campers on Friday.
For those who don’t know what that is — and I was among those people until today — PPI Recruits is an organization that looks to match international athletes with major programs in the US.
According to their websites, PPI has helped match 80 International kids from over 15 different countries including Germany, Sweden, Australia, England, Finland, Belgium, Austria, U.S.A Military (Europe) to full Division 1 scholarships here.
While there were several prospects among the group, class of 2024 linebacker Justin Okoronkwo of Germany was likely the most intriguing.
Okoronkwo, who is currently committed to Maryland, checked in at 6-foot-3, 220-pounds and ran a 40-yard-dash in the 4.5s, so he definitely appears to have SEC traits.
South Carolina saw enough to extend an offer.

— Anderson (S.C.) Belton Honea-Path class of 2025 three-star running back Marquise Henderson already carries a fairly high three-star ranking from the recruiting industry and a nice early offer list with Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt the two Power 5s that have stepped forward.
Henderson was on hand at Friday’s workout where he measured in at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds and ran a sub-4.5 40.
Henderson doesn’t yet hold an offer from the Gamecocks but he’s one we’ll continue to keep an eye on moving forward.
— We’ll also continue to track former Wren and now Arden (N.C.) Christ School QB Mason Holtzclaw. The class of 2026 QB has continued to add height at 6-foot-3 and seemed to receive interest from Dowell Loggains after visiting for a practice during the spring. Holtzclaw is hitting the camp circuit throughout the month and has picked up offers from Toledo and New Mexico State with interest from Kentucky.
